The Laboratory of Social Analysis and Applied Social Research was founded in 2000 (Government Gazette 236/TA/31-10-2000) by decision of the Senate of the University of Crete and after the prior approval of the General Assembly of the Department of Sociology during its 89th Session on 1/12/1999.
The Laboratory for Social Analysis and Applied Social Research has as its main objective to develop research and educational activities related to contemporary trends and issues that have emerged in the social sciences. The main activities of the laboratory focus on the following areas:
Conducting basic and applied social research in major areas of the social sciences and humanities related to educational needs in the field of social research in the discipline of sociology.
Creation of databases for scientific documentation in the study of social phenomena. These databases can be used by social policy actors for the formulation of rational and socially just policies.
Organisation of scientific lectures, workshops, summer schools, seminars, conference symposia, book presentations and similar scientific events related to the research topics of the laboratory.
Collaboration with research centers and academic institutions at home and abroad.
